Terms of Use
Tare is a personal nutrition tracking tool. By using the app, you agree to these terms.
What Tare is
Tare is a nutrition tracking app designed to help you log food, monitor macronutrients and micronutrients, and understand your eating patterns. It runs entirely on your device with optional iCloud sync.
Tare is not a medical device, diagnostic tool, or healthcare service. It is not registered, reviewed, or approved by any health authority.
Health disclaimer
Tare does not provide medical, dietary, or nutritional advice.
Nutrient suggestions, absorption tips, gap calculations, and all other information presented in the app are for informational purposes only. They are not a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment.
Absorption tips are based on general information from the NIH Office of Dietary Supplements consumer fact sheets. They reflect general principles and may not apply to your individual circumstances.
Always consult a qualified healthcare provider before making significant changes to your diet, especially if you are pregnant, nursing, taking medication, or have a medical condition.
If the app indicates a nutrient has been consistently below target, this is based solely on the food you have logged — it is not a clinical assessment. A healthcare professional can evaluate your actual nutritional status through appropriate testing.
Data accuracy
Nutritional data in Tare comes from third-party sources:
- USDA FoodData Central — a U.S. government database of food composition data
- Open Food Facts — a community-maintained database of food product information
This data is provided as-is. Nutritional values may be incomplete, outdated, or inaccurate. Open Food Facts data is user-submitted and not independently verified. Branded food products may only report what appears on the label.
Tare does not independently verify the accuracy of any nutritional data. If accuracy is important for your health situation, verify values against the product label or consult a registered dietitian.
Your data
All data you enter in Tare is stored on your device and, if enabled, in your personal iCloud account. We have no access to your data, cannot view it, and do not collect it.
For full details, see our Privacy Policy.
No warranty
Tare is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind, express or implied. We do not guarantee that the app will be error-free, uninterrupted, or that nutritional calculations will be accurate for your specific needs.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any damages arising from your use of Tare, including but not limited to health outcomes based on information presented in the app.
Refunds and availability
Tare is sold through the App Store, and Apple processes all payments and refunds. To request a refund, contact Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.
We reserve the right to discontinue Tare or stop releasing updates at any time, though any copy of the app you've already purchased will continue to work as long as it's supported by your iOS version.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The "last updated" date at the top of this page will be revised accordingly. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
