Calorie & macro calculator
The same math Tare uses to set your starting targets — Mifflin-St Jeor BMR, your activity level, and your goal. It runs entirely in your browser: nothing you enter is sent anywhere, just like the app.
About the numbers
What is TDEE?
TDEE (Total Daily Energy Expenditure) is the total number of calories you burn per day — your resting metabolism plus everything you do, from walking to workouts. Eating at your TDEE maintains your weight; eating below or above it drives fat loss or gain.
What is BMR, and how is it different from TDEE?
BMR (Basal Metabolic Rate) is the energy your body burns at complete rest, just keeping you alive. TDEE is BMR multiplied by an activity factor that accounts for how much you move. Your calorie target is based on TDEE, not BMR.
Which formula does this calculator use?
The Mifflin-St Jeor equation, the formula best supported by research for estimating BMR, combined with standard activity multipliers (1.2–1.725). It is the exact math the Tare app uses to set your starting targets.
How accurate are calorie calculators?
Any formula is a population average — individual metabolisms commonly vary by ±10% or more, so treat the result as a starting point, not a verdict. The reliable way to find your real number is to log your food and weight for a few weeks and observe the trend, which is exactly what Tare’s Adaptive TDEE automates.
